These are mass produced instruments (and were cleverly designed to be so) and anyone who has any experience of production engineering knows that it all comes down to quality control - Fender have cracked it in China. Guitar made in China are in the worst place you could make a guitar. The plant are so dirty rats can't can't live there. Little black lines that grow on the guitar, and under the finish, little parts will fall off. by Fender are made in Korea, China, Taiwan, Indonesia, and India. Hope this clears things up for you, kcbuck this guy who is supposed to be a master, is NOT ,, re: " YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR " ,, I bought a gibson usa les paul and it cost me two thousand dollars and the guitar was awful in termas of the criminal cost , than i sent it back to gibson ad got all my money back and picked up and arir pro II PE ( les paul ) and the guitar is incredible ,, and it was more than 75% cheaper than the les paul ,, got it at a measley 325.00 and it plays sounds looks about a billion times better than that gibson overpriced WAY overpriced guitar ,,, in the 80-s fender and gibson dropped the ball and started ripping people off and have been doing so for the last 30 years ,, but PEOPLE dont know any better ,,, here are more clues ,, get a westone guitar or a vantage or a westbury or aria pro II , these guitars are all JAPANESE made and way way way beter than most usa guitar , they play , sound, feel , look beautiful and they are 9 out of tenb 10 times set up beautifully ,,, gibson and fender have been screwing people and selling good guitars with a price that would suggest you are getting a guitar that is top notch and should play so look so sound so and they just simply DO NOT ,,, a gibson les paul usa made priced at 2000.00 is worth between 400 and 500 TOPS ,, Moeytoons: Did you ever get that Gibson Les Paul set up or did you expect it to pay like a pro's guitar right out of the box? Every guitar straight from the factory needs to be set up by someone that knows what they're doing. the fit and finish is getting too close for comfort and Ive had several classic vibes across my bench and without question they are professional quality instruments, better than most of the revered Matsumoko japanese made guitars.

However, it is true that Squiers by Fender are good student guitars and are most generally of medium quality. Must be dead if you are digging up old stuff and doing a re-pack.
Nothing wrong with a Squier, but lets face it, you get what you pay for. I would agree with you, I thought the modern player just as good as the corona tele's.

The build quality and finish is as good as the others even after a close look. Font and size is right and the verbiage both front and back match that on the previous guitar.The first immediate difference is in the wood used for the neck. The print looks somewhat smudged, which combined with the exotic wood seems a little off. Upon close inspection of internal components I noticed several small but significant differences with the other guitars.
