Updating mac os 10 4

Same problem; installation of 10.13.4 failed with 'could not be completed'. I booted into recovery mode, ran disk utility repair and tried again after restoring from backup. warning: inode_val: object (oid 0x5ee1): invalid internal_flags (0x48000) warning: inode_val: object (oid 0x5ee1): invalid pad2 (0x2a) Checking the snapshot metadata tree. My internal SSD showed up just fine, unlike what happened to this poor chap.Apple also had me try to restart in Safe Mode, but the Apple icon got stuck at 100% progress (3 minutes waiting).Stack Exchange network consists of 175 Q&A communities including Stack Overflow, the largest, most trusted online community for developers to learn, share their knowledge, and build their careers.Visit Stack Exchange This morning I updated mac OS High Sierra from 10.13.3 to 10.13.4.The log looked similar, and restarting had no effect.

Instead of booting normally, I ended up at a screen containing only an Installation Log window and an error dialog saying “The mac OS installation couldn’t be completed.” That was confusing since I hadn’t asked the App Store app to install mac OS 10.13.4.

That worked — the Mac Book Air booted normally into mac OS 10.13.3, and when I intentionally installed 10.13.4, the installation proceeded properly.

Surprising as it was to experience the same entirely new problem on both of my Macs in quick succession, I figured that I do things that most users don’t, like enable the root user to test security bugs (see “High Sierra Bug Provides Full Root Access,” 28 November 2017). This never happens — like many people of his generation, Tristan is categorically allergic to the telephone — but I hadn’t responded to a picture of his Mac Book Pro that he’d sent me in Slack. It was the same Installation Log screen and error as I’d seen on both my Macs.

If the restarting in Safe mode doesn't do the trick (it may...) If I were you I would use Recovery Mode and restore from a Time Machine backup. So, now I decided to wait & see and ignore the apple store message to update, until I read some good news. If I remember correctly you have the ability to restore from a specific point in time. Would you like to answer one of these unanswered questions instead?
